The Social Security system in Kuwait covers
currently the working manpower.It includes all citizens having a certain
activity in the society, whatever is the type of
activity exercised.
It applies to Kuwaitis working
with others in any sector (government, private or
oil), as well as the members of the Parliament,
Municipality Council, mayors and trainees at the
account of employers (Title III).
It also applies on all who exercise
activities at their own expense such as
merchants and those of liberal professions,
doctors, engineers, lawyers, owners of stores
and who exercise a profession of which a license
was issued by the competent authority (Title V),
as well as the Kuwaitis working abroad (workers
abroad and their affiliates).
The provisions of the Social Security Law
exempt military personnel such as soldiers,
police officers, national guardians and
Parliament guardians as they are subject to the
pensions and retirements bonuses law of military
persons, called “beneficiaries” instead of
“civil” insured.
